THE LAUREATES OF THE UNIVERSAL MARIMBA COMPETITION 2024
Marimba Solo, Duo, Chamber Music, Composition, Youth 



The laureates were ranked up by their performances during 3 rounds marimba duo and 4 rounds Marimba Solo with as closing highlight their interpretation of the Concerto “Permafrost” for Marimba Solo or Duo & Orchestra during the Gala Final Round on November 2nd in the beautiful acoustic Academic Hall. This concerto is composed by artistic director Dr. Ludwig Albert and composer in residence Rodrigo F. Marques.  The laureates are awarded cash Prizes, product Prizes and scholarships. The 1st Prize Laureate will receive traditionally the Ludwig Albert signature Concert marimba manufactured by Adams.
 
The Laureates Marimba Solo
  • 1st Prize Laureate: Yungshang BAO (CN)
  Royal Conservatoire Antwerp Belgium - Marimba Master.
  • 2nd Prize Laureate Solo: Ho Yin WONG (HK)
  Royal Northern College of Music Manchester UK.
  • 3rd Prize Laureate Solo: Charles CHIOVATO RAMBALDO (IT/FR)
   McGill University Canada - Master percussion).

The Laureates Marimba Duo 
  • 1st Prize: Jin-Wei HUANG & Hsuan WU (TW)
+ Best performance Prize of Belgian composition Shakti by J. Van Landeghem.

   Taipei National University of the Arts / Masters Percussion
  • 2nd Prize: Yungshang BAO (CN) & Mario MASCOLO (IT)
   Royal Conservatoire Antwerp Belgium / Masters Marimba).

 
The Prize winners of the Universal Marimba YOUTH Competition 
 
The laureates were ranked up by their performances during 2 rounds with as closing highlight their performances of free chosen works during the Gala Final Round on November 2nd in the beautiful acoustic Academic Hall. All winners receive a scholarship for the L.Albert International Marimba Academy. The 1st Prize winners receive as well an additional scholarship for future University study at the acclaimed Marimba Master department of the Royal Antwerp Conservatoire.

  • 1st Prize: Shengyu BAI (CN)
  • 2nd Prize: Suah Park (KR)
  • 3rd Prize: Ole Jakob INNERVIK (NO)

The Ludwig Albert Talent Prize Solo & Duo
This Prize is awarded to candidates for their exceptional talent and musical interpretation:
  • 1st Prize solo: Shengyu BAI (CN)
  • 1st Prize duo: Agleya KANEVA & Alexander VICHEV (BG)
This award includes a scholarship for the L.Albert International Marimba Academy and future University study at the acclaimed Marimba Master department of the Royal Antwerp Conservatoire.
 
The Best Performance Prize of Belgian work.  
This prize is awarded to the 1st Prize Laureates Duo
